WHERE DO INTER GO FROM HERE?

For a season that started with a refreshing capable mind and hand in the mould of Dutch man Frank de Boer plus the impressive run in the late stages of the previous, Inter’s collapse – yet again – is now downright depressing.

In winning the treble with Jose Mourinho 7 years ago, few could have imagined that even if the sun in Milan was going to go down, such nadir was least expected. Like a temporary twilight, champions have always had to get a few knocks right after triumphant eras, and they do bounce back most of the time.

No team stays champions forever, but Inter’s case has become something far bigger than common latent of form slumps that affect great teams.

It is good to note that outsides the law of diminishing return carrying out its course, an unfavourable economic climate that came over Italy back in the day – something that affected every club –was part of the factors that sent the Neazzurri down this path. (more…)

HENDERSON COULD RETURN SOON

Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson could return to the team sooner than expected, based on comments of Coach Jurgen Klopp.

The Three Lions star has a heel condition Plantar fasciitis in his left foot that is limiting his return to the set-up.

Henderson has been sidelined since the February victory over Tottenham Hotspur. The player was ruled out for the rest of the season earlier but the recent comments of the German manager hint a possible return before the end of the season.

Klopp confirmed that Henderson should be fully fit for the team’s pre-season fixtures in July but he did not give a specific timeline on his comeback date.

“It’s too early to say. Next season is the latest moment of course but anything can happen. We stay positive because he is strong,” Klopp responded when asked how much time Henderson would require to fully heal.

Klopp said the player needed “the green light” to rejoin the team and that “the start if preseason” was the “latest moment” he is expected in the team. (more…)

Jurgen Klopp criticized

Former Liverpool midfielder DietmarHamann has questioned the club decision to give the German manager Jurgen Klopp a six-year contract.

He believes that the board has led themselves carried by the emotion and not the head.

DietmarHamann said that Klopp has yet to convince the fans that he is a good manager and so far he has not done a lot. He stated that there is no way that Liverpool can challenge for the title at the moment and that major changes are needed if they wanted to win the title last season.

DietmarHamann said that Klopp has no plan B when it comes to winning matches when his Gegenpressing style is not working. For him, this tactic does not work in the Premier League because teams know how to sit back and hit you on the break.

The problem with Klopp is that he is so used to using this tactic in the Bundesliga that he is finding it hard to adapt in the Premier League. (more…)

FRANK LAMPARD: CONTE HAS A BIG JOB TO DO

Former Chelsea FC skipper, Frank Lampard says newly appointed Coach, Antonio Conte has a lot of work to do at Chelsea. The 46-year old Italian was appointed recently to take over the helms at Stafford Bridge from current handler, Guus Hiddink.

The Dutch manager was brought in as an interim manager to transform the fortunes of the EPL giant. Hiddink was not able to bring out a radical transformation to the team’s poor start under former coach, Jose Mourinho, hence the appointment of Anthonio Conte.

Lampard says Conte would be capable of achieving results at Stamford Bridge like he did while at Juventus. Conto managed Juventus and transformed the club to one of the best team in the Serie A. Prior to his arrival at Juve, the club finished in seventh place but Conte led the team to three straight Serie A titles. Anthonio Conte will now step down as the Coach of Gli Azzuri after the Euro 2016 tournament in France this summer.

Despite the fact that the experienced coach has not worked or played in England, Frank Lampard believes he is the right person for the job.

Frank Lampard to Goal: “I think he’s a great manager. I think it’s a big job now, Chelsea. I think it’s a transitional period with the difficult year they’ve had, but I think Conte has fantastic pedigree … what he’s done in Juventus, the work he’s doing now at the Italian (national) team.” (more…)

Frank Lampard regrets having joined Manchester City

Frank Lampard angered Chelsea FC fans when he made a move to Manchester City on a deal which was completed back on July of 2015. The English midfielder was a free agent for a short period of time in 2014 after Lampard left Chelsea and City somehow managed to secure the services of the veteran midfielder.

The 37 year old player later went on to join the MLS side New York City, which actually was the club that he had penned a contract with but since the Major League Soccer still hadn’t kicked off, Lampard decided to join Manchester City for a few months before eventually going on to make his official move to the American club but the experienced player has now revealed that he regrets having made this switch.

‘’I was asked from the top to stay on in Manchester, so it wasn’t an easy position for me to be in. I’m not trying to wash my hands of it because I am a man and I make my decisions, but it kind of felt right at the time to carry on playing. The situation happened as it did and I kind of sat there and, yeah, when you stay on and the club really wanted me to stay on, and I thought I’d play more matches, obviously. It didn’t work out that way. I looked at New York and I knew that’s what I signed up for. It was a strange feeling’’ Lampard told reporters. (more…)
