Frank Lampard says that José Mourinho will have only one thing on his mind when he returns to Stamford Bridge on Sunday and that is to get a win.
Lampard played under Mourinho, who had two spells at Chelsea, for a number of years and the duo share a lot of priceless moments in the form of trophies like the Champions League and the Premier League. The English midfielder was one of the favourite players of Mourinho and the Portuguese tried to sign him at his club’s like Inter Milan without much success.
Mourinho has since departed Chelsea and joined Manchester United in the summer. Turning around the fortunes of the Red Devils will be one of the biggest tasks assumed by the manager in his career. So far, United have been highly inconsistent in the campaign and are outside the top six going into the game against Chelsea. The visit to Stamford Bridge on Sunday will only be the second time Mourinho comes to the dugout as the opposition manager.
After having worked for several years under the Portuguese, Lampard says that there is no way Mourinho would allow sentiments to come between him and his pursuit of three points this weekend.
Mourinho has promised that there will be no ‘crazy kid’ celebrations from him if United score a goal. “Jose Mourinho’s a winner. I’ve worked with him and against him and he wants to win games, none more so than when it’s a big competitive game like this. He’ll be very aware of the history and I’m sure he’s still got a huge feeling for Chelsea from his time at the club. On the other hand he’ll be working hard on his team to get them organised to get the right result at Stamford Bridge,” said Frank Lampard about Mourinho’s return to Chelsea.
