Liverpool are set to table a renewed attempt to sign Thomas Lemar after their initial offer of £65m was snubbed by AS Monaco.
The France international is highly rated in the French Ligue 1 after his title-winning campaign with the Principality club last term.
Lemar, 22, was initially linked with a move to Arsenal, but the deal did not materialise with Monaco having refused to place a price tag on his services. As a result, manager Arsene Wenger confirmed that the deal was dead last week whilst insisting that the club may or may not bring in another recruit before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Jurgen Klopp’s side qualified for the Champions League proper via the playoff earlier this month, and they have since stepped up their pursuit for the former Caen man. The Reds have already had an opening bid of £65m turned down by the French champions, but according to The Liverpool Echo, and they are prepared to test Monaco’s resolve further with a £75m offer.
